Yay that was fun.

Ok now onto to a few things that I’m loving today with Jamie from This Kind of Love.

I’m loving that I’m having a great day off with my roommate Suzanne.
I’m loving that I’m auditioning to be a Segway Tour guide today..wish me luck.
I’m loving that I have a three day weekend.
I’m loving that I get to see my best friend Abby’s parents, Joan and Bill on Friday.
I’m loving that tomorrow I’m spending quality time with some of my GR friends.
I’m loving life.
Have a great day friends! 🙂

Confession

Alrighty y’all I have a confession.
One that is pretty hard for me to admit, because most of the time I go around saying this has never happened to me.
Well guess what.  It’s happened.
I am homesick.
Not the kind of homesick where I’m going to quit my job, move back home and find a teaching job.
But the kind that I wish I could just have dinner with my parents, get up in the morning and sit on the couch and drink coffee with my dad, or go to a movie with my mom.
And the worst of it is, I’m not even sure when I’m gonna get to see my parents.
I’m going back to Texas in November (for a week) but I don’t know if my parents are going to be able to meet me there.
I really wish plane tickets aren’t so expensive.  If they weren’t I would totally be jumping on a plane on Wednesday and coming home Saturday morning.
(Yeah, I already looked a flight prices)
Blah.  This feeling is no fun.
I miss my family.
Why can’t Florida and Texas be neighbors?

Book Club Friday:Unwind

It’s Friday!!
Once again I am amazing at how fast this week has gone!
I feel like I’ve been going and going, like the energizer bunny.  And I won’t stop going until Wednesday because that is my next day off from work.
Ps. You have a Disney work update coming up tomorrow.  It’s pretty awesome possum.
So get excited.
So, since it’s Friday that means it is time for:

This week I’m sharing:
Here is the synopsis:

Connor, Risa, and Lev are running for their lives.
The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child “unwound,” whereby all of the child’s organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn’t technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape and to survive.

Doesn’t that cover look weird?
See I’m one of those readers who totally judges a book by its cover.
That’s terrible, I know but I can’t help it.
I did the same thing with The Giver and then I had to read it in a children’s literature class in college and LOVED it.
So when this was recommended to me by an old teacher I was super hesitant to read it.
Not only that but it is over a HUGELY controversial topic that usually makes people uncomfortable to read about, talk about, and even think about.
But I was surprised to find that I really liked this book.  Like A LOT!
It captivates you from the first chapter to the last.
Each chapter gives you the story from each major character perspective and even from minor characters, whom may not be super important to the overall plot, but give you the background you need to fully understand how and why the United States is run the way it is.
I think this is going to be a series, but I don’t know if the 2nd book has been written yet.
So if you want to read something a little different, but very well written and very good, swing by your favorite bookstore and pick it up.

Happy Reading! 🙂

It’s Ok to be Thankful it’s Thursday

This post is gonna be short and sweet because I’ve been up since 5:30 this morning and depretately need a nap.
Which is really weird for me because normally I hate taking naps in the middle of the day.  Either I don’t sleep long enough or I sleep too long.  So I prefer to sleep at night and be awake in the day (like God intended us to do).
So, once again yay for link ups.
I’m linkin up with three of my favorite bloggers on this fine Thursday afternoon,
first up we have Meg, from henning love, for her very first edition of:
*I’m thankful for technology, because without it, it would make it a lot more difficult for me to have moved to Florida away from my friends and family in Texas.
(I love this link up idea.  It’s such a good way for us to take a few seconds to think about the things that we sometimes take for granted.)
Ok up next is:

Its Ok Thursdays
with Amber from Brunch with Amber and Neely from A Complete Waste of Makeup.
Here we go:
It’s ok to be kinda bummed that Hurricane Irene is now apparently completely missing Florida, when you’ve been going around saying, “There’s a hurricane acomin!” (But I pray nothing is damaged in the states that it does affect by it’s extreme wind/rain)
It’s ok to want to re-arrange the furniture in your room every 2 weeks or so.
It’s ok to get upset when you make plans to do something and then wish you hadn’t because there is something on TV that you really want to watch.
It’s ok to consider “working out” be when you walk up and down the stairs to your apartment each time you leave.
It’s ok to be slightly annoyed with yourself when you come home and your bed is unmade.
It’s ok to still eat Ramen noodles because you’re too lazy to make anything else.
It’s ok to start planning your Halloween costume 2 months before Halloween.
It’s ok to still believe in fairy tales.
Alrighty, that’s all I got.  Again, I’m fixin to pass out because I was up at 5:30am. Gross.

What I’m Loving

Wednesday’s are so much fun because there are two great link up parties that we can take part in!
Isn’t blogging just so much fun.
Yes, yes it is.
So here we go, link party numero dos with Jamie from This Kind of Love :
I’m loving that I am off work before the sun goes down and have time to make a proper dinner.
I’m loving that it is almost September, which means it is almost Fall and almost time for ABC’s fall lineup of new shows.
I’m loving Milk Chocolate covered Almonds.
I’m loving the Bachelor Pad.
I’m loving that I will be getting a hair cut (and possibly highlight) in the coming weeks.
I’m loving that I’m thinking about having some type of giveaway when I reach 50 followers.
(Never thought my blog would potentially have any more followers than just my real life friends. So THANK YOU!)
Hope all of you have many things you’re loving as well!
Ta ta!

Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday!

Is it really Wednesday already?
Geewiz, can time please slow down just a little?

Happy pinning and Happy Hump Day! 🙂

Baby Brother’s Birthday

Today is my little brother’s BIRTHDAY!
I say little but today he’s 22.  Not so little anymore.
I’m sad though because August is a big month for my family.
It’s my dad’s, mom’s, brother’s, cousin’s, grandmother’s, two aunt’s, AND one of my uncle’s birthdays.
Not not to mention my parent’s anniversary!
And I’ve missed out on all of it.  Only negative thing about moving to Florida is that my family didn’t move with me.
Too bad Texas can’t be next to Florida.
.
Happy 22nd Birthday Drew! I love you!

(The couple who took this picture thought my brother and I were a couple. Um GROSS. He’s my brother. Which we vehemently reiterated to them several times.)
The parentals and the kids.
Till tomorrow friends! 🙂

Monday’s Style File: The Duchess of Cambridge

I decided it would be fun to link up with Courtney from Courtney’s Organized Chaos for:

I was on Pinterest yesterday and stumbled on a bunch of pins featuring Kate Middleton or as she is now known, the Duchess of Cambridge. (sign, doesn’t that sound simply wonderful).
I went a little Kate Middleton pin crazy (as two of my wonderful friends pointed out) and so I decided the best way to showcase her fabulous style was through Courtney’s link up!
The Duchess of Cambridge has AH-MAZING style.
Considering that she is the future Queen of England, I guess it’s a given that she would have great style,  but she had great style even before she married Prince William.
She wears classic styles that are elegant, feminine, age appropriate and completely beautiful.
If any of these clothes were to be purchased, my closet would be very happy!

The Duchess of Cambridge is fabulous.

Birthdays and Beach Days

I have several things I’d like to share today and I’m torn on whether I should do one big post or several small ones.
Don’t you just hate when that happens.
You have so many fun things you want to share and you can’t decide which to share first.
So first I want to send a very big happy birthday to one of the most important people in my life.
Without this woman’s constant love and support I would not be who am I today, nor would I be living out my dream working for Disney.
Here she is:
See this pretty lady, struttin her stuff in a mini-play at Epcot?
That is my MAMA and today is her BIRTHDAY!
So the other thing I wanted to share was, today I went to Cocoa beach and saw this girl:
Katie is part of our group of 6 and she is MOVING BACK TO FLORIDA!
She got her very first nursing job at a hospital in a small town here in FL.
She’s currently house sitting and today we met at Cocoa Beach and had a lovely lunch and then relaxed on the beach.

(I was a terrible picture taker today and only snapped two picture. Fail.)
But I am so excited that she will be living 2 hours away.
We’ll get to see her pretty often.
This now means that 3 our 6 of us will be living in FL again! Now we just need Abby, Whitney, and Kelly to get their booties down here and it would be perfect! 🙂
My Monday has been wonderful and I hope yours has been too! 🙂

Late Night Phone Call

Have I totally thrown you with that title?
Good, I meant to.
Because let me tell you, this was not the kind of late night phone call you like.
It was probably the strangest phone call of my life!
So last night at 12:30am, yes 12:30, I got a call from a number that is not saved in my phone.
My first thought, was WTF? Who the heck is calling me this late.
So I answered, because I was curious, and it was some girl.
She said she was glad she finally got me and asked how I was.
I was completely dumbfounded. I went on to ask who it was (some girl named Britney) and how we had met.
She said we met at Epcot two weeks ago.
Yeah I have absolutely NO recollection of meeting this girl and giving her my phone number.
I wasn’t even at work when we met apparently.  She said we meant at the French pavilion and got to talking.  I was with another friend and so was she.
(Sidenote: I don’t normally give my number to girls.  Guys? Yes. But girls, not so much.)
Not only that but, I haven’t been to Epcot for fun since my BF Ashley came to visit and that was the first week of August. Which wasn’t two weeks ago.
We had a really awkward 8 minute conversation where I apologized for not remembering, she said she was sad I didn’t remember, and then we hung up.
I then spent the next 20 minutes trying to remember who the heck this girl is.
And you know what?
I STILL have no idea who she is.
My roommate swears it had to have been a prank call.
But who does a prank call like that?
It wasn’t funny at all, it was just really weird and slightly creepy.
At the end of the call and the rest of the night I had this look on my face:
Did that really just happen?
Yes, yes it did.
Hope you all had a great Saturday night.
Hopefully it didn’t end as strangely as mine did! 🙂
