H54F and My Worst Traits

Obviously my attempt at blogging everyday has gone phenomenally well.  I mean look, I’ve done 10 days out of 24.  You’re impressed I can tell.

My week has been a series of adjustments.  Luckily for me they’ve all been fairly easy adjustments.  The roughest one has been trying to figure out what time I need to leave for work so I’m not 45 minutes early every day.  I used to live literally 10 minutes from work and now I have an actual commute.  Anyway, the point is Sadie and I are adjusting well to our new surroundings.
So on with the goods for today.
Day 24: List your 3 worst traits.
1.  I have this thing where I say the first thing that comes out of my mouth without thinking first.  Sometimes.  It doesn’t happen all the time but it happens often enough that it’s been commented on a time or two by some of my friends.  I’ll have more on this tomorrow though because even though it may be one of my “worst traits” there is a way that it’s actually been one of my better traits.  (I think).
2.  I’m lazy.  I like to tell myself that it’s not a bad trait, but I constantly make to do lists and never get them done because I’d rather sit on my couch and do absolutely nothing.  And because I’m lazy it also turns me into a procrastinator.  Which isn’t a good thing either.
3.  I don’t act my age.  Now this may not sound like a bad thing.  But trust me, it is.  Nine times out of ten, I would rather sit at home with a cup of tea and a good book then go out with my friends.  In my head this is just fine.  But at the same time I know it prevents me from meeting new people, which in turn may be one of the reasons I’m probably gonna be a crazy cat lady by the time I’m 40.  I may be 25 but I act like I’m 65.

Ok now that I’ve shared some of the worst things about myself, I want to share my five favorite things from the week.  Because all in all its been a great one!

1. Essie new summer line is out. Woo Hoo! Now I just need to decided which ones to add to my collection.
2. It’s summer in Florida again, so that means it rains everyday between 3 and 6.  And we’ve had ridiculous storms the last week.  Add traffic to that and you have two of my least favorite things. Driving in the rain and traffic. Gross.
3. My friend Jordan (who just started her very own blog that you can read here) made us home made stuff crust pizza.  IT WAS DELICIOUS!
4. Sadie is slowly but surely adapting to living in an apartment with another cat.  But it doesn’t help when that other cat sits at the end of the hall way and prevents her from coming out of the bedroom.  It’s a work in progress.
5. Two of my favorite things happened this morning.
Have a great Friday friends! 🙂

A Favorite Photo

I mentioned this in an earlier post, but I’ve been moving out of my apartment all week.  And let me tell you, it’s a pain in the ass.  You never really realize how much stuff you have until you have to pack it all up and store it.

Y’all the last few weeks have been rough.  Real rough.  Life doesn’t throw me too many curve balls but when it does…..man!  It’s the curviest ball in the whole world.

Because of the curve balls and the fact that I have to move pretty much an entire 1 bedroom apartment semi solo (I had 3 amazing friends who helped me move all the big stuff out) I haven’t been able to keep up with the challenge.  Which I’m super bummed about because one of the days I was super excited about doing what the “Day in the Life” post.  I WILL be doing that post, just after all the craziness has calmed down.

So picking up o the challenge for day.

Day 17:  A favorite photo of yourself and why.

This picture was taken in college.  My best friend from college, Monica, had bought a fancy shamancy camera and was being awesome and taking some senior pictures of our friends.  I went with her to act as an “assistant” but she needed me to help her with some lighting stuff.  See I HATE candid picture.  Hate them with a passion.  I always get caught with the grossest, fugliest looks on my face.  But this one….I don’t hate.  I actually kind of LOVE IT. I have zero idea what I was thinking, that is probably the most comfy dress in my wardrobe, and my bra strap is hanging down.  But, it gives me a little bit of hope that when it comes time to have candids taken of me at my wedding (yes I’ve thought that far ahead and no I’m still not dating anyone) not all of them will be total crap.  And that makes me very happy.

A Happy List

Today I’m spending the whole day (and most likely night) packing up my apartment.  I’ve spent the last 2 years living in the this apartment and have made some wonderful memories.  But in the last couple months I’ve come to hate this apartment.  I’m 100% ready to get the hell of of it and into a fresh, new one.

Packing is going to suck though!
Thank goodness today’s challenge is a good one.
Day 14:  List 10 things that make you really happy.

1. Morning coffee while laying bed.
2. A clean apartment with good smells drifting through the house.
3. Taking pictures with my best friends.
4. Re-reading my favorite books. (Harry Potter has probably been read about a hundred times each.
5. Going to the movies, either alone or with friends.
6. Pretty flowers, especially fresh ones.
7. Going to Barnes and Noble drinking Starbucks .
8. Family.  They are the best!
9.  Having freshly painted nails (be they fingers or toes.)
10. Sadie.  Just looking at her makes me so glad I adopted her.

Happy lists are just the best.

Everyone……

There is one hour left in today, so I’m squeezing in today’s challenge.

Day 13:  Issue a public apology.

I’m not really sure how to address this prompt.  So I decided to go the humorous route.

Thank you Gretchen Weiners.

And that is my public apology.  🙂  Which is a total joke.  I should actually publicly apologize for quoting movies like it’s my job or for something a little more serious but I have a little to much serious going on in my life right now.  So y’all get Mean Girls quotes.  You’re welcome! 🙂

Playing a Little Catch Up

My best friend came into town this weekend, which explains my lack of keeping up with the challenge over the weekend.  But my life is now back to its regularly scheduled programming.

So let’s play catch up, shall we.

Day 10: Most embarrassing moment.

Like any normal human being, I’ve had several embarrassing moments in my 25 years.  Today though I’m gonna share just one.  When I was in college I a Disney College Program Campus Rep.  Basically, I do all the leg work to get college students interested in doing the same College Program that made me obsessed with this company.  Every semester we have two huge presentations where a recruiter comes and tells all these students about the program.  At the end of the presentation, all the Campus Reps come to the front of the room and tell everyone about our experiences.  Well, I’m up there telling my story in front of about 150 college students, when someone asks me if I’ve ever met anyone famous.  Here is my response.

“Well no one super famous, but I did ride the Jonas Brothers in an elevator.”

WHOOPS!  I quickly backed tracked and corrected myself, but not before I turned bright red, said that was NOT what I meant at all, apologized a million times and then wanted to bury myself under the carpet.  Everyone cracked up of course for the next 10 minutes and my recruiter looked like she was beat me with a stick.

Needless to say, my fellow Reps never let me live that one down. And the story is repeated every time we all get together.

Day 11: Sell yourself in 10 words or less.

Confident.
Driven.
Kind.
Blonde.
Patient.
Loving.
Loyal.
Direct.
Intelligent.
Cute.

Man, bragging about yourself is hard.  I do have one questions though.  Why the hell am I still single? I mean, I’m awesome! ; )

*******

Day 12: What do you miss?

I’m an adult now.  I have a ton of grown up responsibilities.  Most of which center on making sure I pay all my bills on time, making sure I can keep the roof over my head, and of course food in my stomach.  Of course being a grown up has its perks, but I totally miss being a kid.  I miss having someone else decide things for me.  I miss having my mom or dad make dinner every night.  I miss fighting with my brother.  I miss Lisa Frank.  I miss not having to worry about anything other than getting my math homework done.

I miss childhood.

Woo hoo! Caught up! 🙂

And on that note….HAPPY MOTHER’s DAY to the BEST MUMMY in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD! 🙂  I adore you and am so glad your my MOM! 🙂

Target Comic Con

I skipped yesterdays challenge because, quite frankly, I didn’t have any advice.  (PS. I’ve always wanted to use that phrase! lol )  But seriously, it’s true.  I could not think of a single piece of advice to share with y’all.  So I remembered that there are no rules to the challenge, so I skipped.

*****

Now, day 9:  share a moment of your day.

Yesterday I realized that when I have nothing to do, I Instragram like a crazy person.  I Instagramed 5 different pictures! Where as when I’m busy I Instagram one or two at most.  Anyway, the point of this rambling is I couldn’t decide which moment of my day I wanted to share.

But I’ve decided to go for a humorous moment.

These were taken yesterday while friends from work and I were browsing around Target.  We all love Marvel so we went to the toy section and started playing with the superhero toys.  It was fun.

The caption on this picture is, “We ran into Darth Vader and Captain America dookin it out, then the Hulk stole Captain America’s shield and partied with Iron Man.  While Iron Patriot and Batman hung out.” #tartgetcomiccon #nerdfusion #wecool

We got some funny looks playing in the toy isle.  Bit it was totally worth it.

My best friend from home is in town!!!  We’re off to hang out at the Magic Kingdom today! WOO HOO!

19th Century Spinster

So I missed days 5 and 6 of the challenge.  Life got in the way of blogging.  I worked all day Sunday (and when I say all day I mean all day 8:30 am till 11:30 pm) and yesterday I worked and then had a fantastic girls night with some ladies from work.

But I’m back on it today!

******

So, day 7: Thing(s) you’re most afraid of.

I thought about giving a list of things but I think I’ll just stick with one.  You know, make a post a little more personal then I normally get on the blog.

I am deathly afraid of ending up alone for the rest of my life.

In my 25 years of life (not counting years 1-14) I have only ever had one boyfriend.  I’ve dated here and there but the only real relationship I’ve ever had was when I was a junior in high school.  Why?  I’m really not sure.  After high school, a friend told me it wasn’t because I wasn’t pretty or had a bad personality.  She said it was because the guys in school were intimidated by me.  To this day I’m not sure how I feel about that.  But I just figured when I got to college it would change.

College came around and nothing.  Few dates here and there but nothing that ever turned anything substantial.  (Can you kinda see why I’m afraid of being alone now?)  After college I told myself that the reason I’m alone is because I know what I want and don’t feel like I have to date a bunch of guys to end up with the right one. Kinda like Josie Gellar in Never Been Kissed but instead of waiting for the perfect kiss, I’m telling myself I’m just waiting for the perfect guy.

But now I’m 25 and I’m still alone.  Yes I have tons of friends and family, I have a great job, I’m out doing what I want, I’m living life the way I want too, and I’m dating (on occasion).  I’m truly happy being single  But I’ll be honest, I’m tired of being single and I’m ready for more.  I want someone to grow old with and who wants to grow old with me.  I want to have someone to come home to.  To share everything with.  And sometimes I’m terrified that that will never happen.  I’m afraid I’ll end up the crazy cat lady who lives in a little white house all by herself. An old maid, a spinster. Technically, if this were the 19th century, I would already be considered a spinster. I would be a chaperone to my younger sister or cousins and seen as “beyond the marriageable age.”  And yes, I’ve read too many historical romance novels.  Anyway,  I’m afraid I’ll be the forever single friend who always comes to things by herself, you know like Brigitte Jones.  I’m afraid I’ll be left behind with all my friends who are either married, in long term relationships or at the beginning of new relationships.

I never thought that this would be something I would be afraid of.  But it is.  And the only thing that helps me to not be afraid of being alone forever.  Is to hope that somewhere out there, is my other half and that he’s looking for me, just as hard as I’m looking for him.

And when I find him or he finds me.  You can bet your asses, it’ll be all over my blog! 🙂

Quotable Quotes

Aren’t words just the greatest!  I mean imagine if there were no words.  The world would be a very silent place.  No thanks!
Sometimes people put words together that inspire us, teach us, and enlighten us.
Today’s challenge is to share our favorite quotes.
Harry Potter is my all time favorite book.  So I had to throw in on by the always insightful Albus Dumbledore.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go.
-Dr. Suess

Thank you, Dr. Seuss for being the inspiration for the title my little ol blog.  If not for this quote, I wouldn’t have thought of the name for  the place that I would be sharing all the opportunities I would be encountering.  2 years later I still think it describes my life to a tee.  I still have lots of wandering to do before I finally settle down.

Good friends are like stars.  You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there.
 -unknown (old saying)

I love this quote because for me it could not be truer.  I have several best friends scattered around the country and I know that we can count on each other even if we don’t get to see each other everyday.
If you can dream it, you can do it.
Of course Walt had to be thrown in the mix as well.  I think this is probably one of the most inspiring quotes out there.  It lets people know that you can do anything you set your mind too as long as you believe you can.
The nice thing about having favorite quotes, is that you can constantly refer back to them when you need encouragement, comfort, to laugh, to make a decision…anything.

High Five for Friday

I think I’m kinda on a roll with this whole blog everyday thing!  I’m even blogging twice in one day.

Go me.

One of my favorite things is sharing my top things from the week, thus the need for another post!

Lauren over at Lauren Elizabeth was a genius when she created thought of this!

1. This baby Simba was in the Lost and Found, so he kept me company at work one night.
2. Jordan and I went to the only Sonic in Orlando, Fl and watched Girls.
3. Morning coffee is seriously my favorite thing EVER, especially when you can drink it out cute cups.
4. My favorite kitten laying on my favorite blanket.
5. Did a little light reading at Barnes and Noble.

I’ll be honest, some of these photos are from last week.  But since I didn’t post about it last week, I’m posting about it this week.  Woo Hoo!

Have a great weekend y’all!

I’m Uncomfortable…..

Day numero tres in the “Blog Every Day in May” challenge asks us about the things that make us uncomfortable.

So without further ado I give you:

Kathleen’s List of Things that Make Her Uncomfortable

(This is actually a pretty acute picture of what I look like when I’m uncomfortate. Attractive, I know!)

-PDA.  I realize that people want to show their feelings for each other.  But that doesn’t mean you need to slobber all over each other in public. It’s gross.

-Pads. And yes I mean the kind women wear when its that time of the month.  Tampons are God’s gift to women, pads are not.

-Watching movies with my parents when all of sudden there’s a detailed sex scene.

– Watching detailed sex scenes with anyone.  I recently started watching Girls (which is phenomenal) and it has some pretty graphic sex scenes, it’s HBO so obviously.  Point is I watch it by myself and have no problem.  But I watched a few episodes with my friends Jordan and it was real uncomfortable.

-Driving in the rain.

-Walking through a dark parking lot alone at night.

-When a car is behind me and starts taking every turn I take.  It makes me feel like they’re following me with wicked intentions.

-When co-workers argue in front of me.

-High heels (I’m going to work on this though, because I want to wear them!)

-The people who are showcased on shows like My Strange Addiction, Hoarders, Extreme Cheapskates, and My Crazy Obsession.

-Crickets

-Inappropriate messages on online dating sites.  (I got my first one a few weeks ago on the dating site I joined, which you can read about here.)

-Last year on our cruise, we were hanging out in the cabin before dinner and I happened to be finishing up the 50 Shades of Grey series and my friend Kelly asked me to read some of it aloud so she could see what all the fuss was about. The writing so bad and the sex scenes so awkward it made my super uncomfortable.

-When I’m uncomfortable I laugh.

-People yelling at me at work over things that are beyond my control (or Disney’s control for that matter)

-Midnight premiers.  I’ve known this one for a while now.  But I still went to the midnight premier of Iron Man 3 last night (or early this morning as the case may be) and I was uncomfortable.  Please talking too much, clapping, yelling at the screen.  STOP IT! I wont go to another one.

Well there ya have it.  That’s just a few of the items that make me uncomfortable.  I’m sure there are more but I don’t want to reveal too much more, or y’all will think I’m a weirdo.
