Mad About Plaid

I finally started my training to be a Segway tour guide!
To find out what I’m talking about click here. 🙂
We had our 4 hour Segway class on Monday and got to learn all about how a Segway operates.
We also had to drive the Segway over something called the Rumble (which is just a bunch of small and tall bumps), we went over a ramp, we took them outside and went up hill and downhill, and we even did a complete 360 turn on a pretty steep ramp.
Yeah we got to wear those pretty sweet vests out in the park in front of people.
We look real good, huh.
So yesterday was the first official day of the tour guide portion of the training.
We just had to go on the tour (which I’ve already been on) but I got to come work in super casual clothes.
It was awesome.
I got paid to go on a Segway tour and pretty much sit around and talk all day.
Again, it was awesome.
Oh and one other thing.
Y’all know who Vern Yip is?
Yeah he’s the AMAZING designer on HGTV who does Trading Spaces.  As well as several other HGTV shows.
Well he’s in town for the Food and Wine Festival.
HE WAS ON OUR SEGWAY TOUR!
He’s on the right side standing by Jordan!
The other guy is his partner Craig Koch.
Both of them were so nice and fun.
Today I will be doing 4 out of the 8 countries on the tour.
Kinda nervous but super excited at the same time!
Wish me luck!

International Food and Wine Festival

Yesterday was the very first day of Epcot’s 16th Annual International Food and Wine Festival!
Yep, I said it.
Food and Wine FESTIVAL.
That means lots of food and wine.
Actually they technically sell more beer and wine, but how does this sound:
Epcot’s International Food and Beer Festival
Yeah, not classy AT ALL.
But basically the festival is a collection of culinary, beverage, and mixology seminars.
Then throw in food kiosks from like 26 different countries and boom, you’ve got the festival.
We had just a soft opening of the festival yesterday and officially it opens today.
The theme of this years festival is Passport To A World of Flavors:

They have this awesome cranberry “field” before you get to the World Showcase in Epcot where the country food kiosks are located.
Cranberries!
It’s sponsored by Ocean Spray and it looks just like their commercials.
At each of the kiosks they also have planets with different fruits (like this pineapple in Hawaii), spices, and a few vegetables.

They even have an entire kiosk dedicated to dessert!
Haven’t had this one yet, but I will soon!

Can you find the hidden mickey on the champagne glass?

I only tasted 3 countries this time around.
I will be going back soon though to sample the rest!

Cheddar Cheese Soup from Canada.
This place is in the American pavilion.
It has a bunch of Samuel Adams beer.
Which is a waste on me cuz I don’t drink beer.

But they do have this!
It’s Pumpkin Mousse with Ocean Spray Craisins and Orange Sauce.
SOOOOOO GOOD!
Seriously I could probably eat 10 of these.

Tea tree outside the South Korea kiosk.

Last thing I had was Lettuce Wrap with Roast Pork and Kimchi Slaw.
It was good, but I probably wouldn’t get it again.
I’ll still with PF Changs lettuce wraps.

Epcot has got the most AH-MAZING flowers all over the place.
Here are some I captured.
I just love pictures of flowers!

Again this was only the first day so get ready for more pictures of all the awesome food I’ll be eating in the next few weeks.
I should be gaining about 10 pounds.  And I’m totally ok with that.
I decided to use these photos for a link up party!
Erin over at Living in Yellow does a link up every Friday called:
She takes awesome pictures of the joy she sees/experiences each week. Then hosts a link up party so others can share the joy they captured that week!
So fun, right?
Go link up! 🙂
Happy Friday lovelies!

Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday

Happy Hump Day!

I may or may not have spent all day on my couch (yesterday) alternating between Pottermore (which I FINALLY got my early access to and have yet to fully enjoy because the site has been closed to over demand ALL YESTERDAY!) and looking for fun things on Pinterest.
So it was pretty tough to decide which were my favorites.
Pinterest addict here.
Shocking I know.
Have a great day! 🙂

Fabulous Fall Day 8: Fall Road Trips

So I had to skip yesterday’s challenge because I don’t really have any Fall recipes.
I guess I could have called my grandmother and gotten her brocolli cheese casserole recipe that she does at Thanksgiving.
It is super yummy!
My all time favorite.
But I didn’t.
I’m back today though for Amber and Neely’s:

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
Today we are talking about Fall Roadtrips/Vacations.
The only Fall road trip my family has ever made was during the Fall is to my grandmothers for Thankgiving!
We’ve been spending Thanksgiving with my dad’s family in Lovington, NM for as long as I can remember.
I can only remember a few times when we stayed home and let me tell you, it was just NOT the same!
One year when we didn’t go and my Dad made this pork tenderloin thing instead of turkey.Gross.That is NOT what you eat on Thanksgiving.
Anyway, I just love this trip.My dad’d whole family gets together and we visit, watch football (usually the Dallas Cowboys), and EAT EAT EAT!!

The granddaughters Thanksgiving 2009
This year I won’t be going on the Roadtrip.
That is one of the ONLY negative things about living in Florida and working for Disney.
We are open 365 days a year.
Plus it is pretty hard to get off the major holidays because EVERYONE wants off for the holidays.
So sadly I’ll be missing this year.
My momma is NOT happy.
And if I’m 100% honest…..
neither am I.

Fabulous Fall Day 6: Fall Tv Shows

Hello Hello lovelies!
I hope you all had a great weekend!
Mine was pretty good.  Although techinically it wasn’t my weekend since I had to work.
My weekend is usually Wednesday and Thursday.
This week though it’s Tuesday and Wednesday so technically tomorrow is my Friday, even though it’s Monday.
Wow. That was random.
Anyway.
Today on Amber and Neely’s:

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
we get to talk about all the new and returning Fall TV shows.
Confession.I LOVE TV.Seriously I have so many shows that I love it’s not even funny.I could sit and watch TV for hours on end. It’s bad.But whatever TV is awesome. Save for commercials. Those I could do without.
This fall there are a ton of new TV shows and here are the ones I’m looking forward to the most:

I saw the season premier for this.
Wasn’t too sure about it when I first started watching, but by the end I was hooked.
Now I have to see how it plays out.
I think this one is pretty obvious for me.
Who wouldn’t excited about a TV show about fairy tales.
Especially is that person works for Disney.
This is the one I’m most excited to see.
I had to work last night so I missed the season premier.
I will be watching it as soon as I get out of work today.
Before Dancing with the Stars! 😉
Now on to the returning shows.
Get ready there are A LOT! 😉
I love Grey’s!
But gotta admit last season ended questionably.
I’m not sure if I like where it’s going, but I do love the show so I’ll still watch it! 🙂
This show finally has more than 1 or 2 people who are recognizable as celebrities!
Can’t wait to see it tonight! 🙂
LOVE IT.
That is all.
BEST SHOW EVER.
I don’t think OTH comes back this fall, but I had to throw it in there because Chad Michael Murray will be back for the shows final season!
So excited!
We shall see how the season goes without Stabler.
That is all.
Thought the season premier was hilarious.
But gotta admit.
I miss Michael Scott sitting behind that desk.
This is my all time favorite reality show.
Just so y’all know, my brother and I will be on the Amazing Race one of these days.
So be on the look out for us.
🙂

There ya have it.
Some of my top shows.
I love me some TV!
Especially Fall TV! 🙂
Happy Monday!

If You’re Not Hungry Now….You’re Fixin To Be! :)

I know I’ve said this before, but I feel like I need to say it again.
I DO NOT COOK.
Like ever.
My idea of cooking is heating up a frozen bag of something on the stove.
But on Thursday I did it!
I had been looking for something I wanted to cook for a couple of days when I found a food blog.
Her name is Danelle and she does a food blog called Let’s Dish.
She has a TON of recipes.
Everything from main dishes, to appetizers, desserts, soups, salads.
Go check it out because she’s got some great stuff.
For example.
(click on it and it will take you right to the original recipe)
Here’s what you need:
Chicken, Cheese Totellini, chicken stock, mushrooms, green onions, flour, cheese, and sour cream.
Preheat your oven to 350 before you start.
First you have to cut up 2 skinless, boneless chicken into chunks.
As well as the 3 green onions and some mushrooms.

Then then after you have cooked the chicken by itself for about 3 minutes.
Add the onions and mushrooms and cook that until the mushrooms are brown and the chicken is done.
This will take roughly 10 minutes.

Then you add 2 tablespoons of flour.
When you do that all the juices will get soaked into the flour.
(I got kinda nervous at this point because the recipe says it should be thickening and it doesn’t)

But then you add 1 cup of chicken broth, stir it and THEN it will start to thicken.

After about 5 minutes or so, when the mixture has thickened up.
Add 3/4 cup of sour cream.

Once you’ve mixed that up a bit it will be light in color.
Let it sit for another 5 minutes or so.
Then you pour the mixture into a pan that is lightly greased.
I didn’t have any cooking spray so I just lightly covered the bottom with some butter.

Then you add 2 cups of cheese to the top of the mixture.

The cover the pan with foil and pop it in the oven for 30 minutes.
When the 30 minutes are up, take the cover off and let it cook for another 10-15 or until the cheese is bubbling and the sides a tad brown.

While the main dish was in the oven I threw together a salad and popped some garlic bread in the oven.

This is what it looked like when it was done! 🙂

Gotta say y’all, I was pretty darn proud of myself.
I made the WHOLE dinner on my own.
Luckily I have roommates who like to eat too.
They loved it!
I can’t wait to try some more of the recipes on that food blog!
Ps. Sorry for the terrible directions.  The link has MUCH better ones!  I promise.
🙂

Fabulous Fall Day 5: What I’m Looking Forward to Most

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
For Day 5 we get to talk about all that we are looking forward to for the Fall.
Here goes:
1. Fall decorations that we just started putting up YESTERDAY! Read the post right below this and you’ll see that I was Miss fall crafty pants!
2. Cooler weather…NOT! Let me clarify,  I live in Florida. So while it wont be cooler per say, it will at least not be humid.Which means my hair will be happy!
3. Wearing there boots that I’m buying ASAP from Target:

4. Thanksgiving.
Oh wait, this will be my first Thanksgiving EVER where I’m not with my family.
I’m not looking forward to that.
This was our family pic from last Thanksgiving.
5. One of my best friends wedding! She’s getting married on November 18th!
I’m one of the MOH.
Click here to read about it!
6. Darker nail polish.
7. The fact that my cousin and her fiance are coming to Disney World!
Their  coming at the end of October and this will be their first trip here!
Yep, so many fun things to look forward to this fall!
PS. Today is OFFICIALLY the First Day of Fall!
Have a Fun Filled Fall Weekend!

Crafty Chefy… Yet More Crafty then Chefy.

Yesterday I was the perfect little homemaker.
Seriously if I had a boyfriend he would have been one happy camper.
But I don’t.
fml.
However I do have 3 roommates who greatly appreciated my efforts.
Not only did I do some serious damage at Hobby Lobby and Target in the decorations department.
But I cooked dinner.
From scratch.
All by myself.
Now I’m super excited about this because I DO NOT COOK.
Like at all and this dinner did not involve anything that was frozen.
Go me!
I found a recipe that I thought look pretty easy, I followed it and it came out delicious!
Just ask the roommates.
They loved it.
Now to share some photos of my crafty/chefy day.
Is chefy even a word?
It is now!
First up we have the crafty.
At Hobby Lobby I bought some fall garland, a few wooden pumpkins, a Happy Harvest sign, and some wreaths to make….well wreaths.
Here’s the Fall wreath:
All this stuff was 40% off!

 The finished product!
Next is that tulle wreath I posted about yesterday.
You know the one I found on Pinterest?
It was SO easy!
You just need tulle and a wreath.
These too were on sale.
50% off!

So I’m pretty sure I bought the wrong wreath. Womp womp.
I didn’t read the directions very closely.
So I had to first wrap the wreath entirely in the black tulle.
Luckily I bought two rolls.

Then I took the rest of the black tulle and the orange tulle and cut it one of my arms length wide.

Then all you do is literally tie the tulle, and put enough of it around the wreath so that it looks fluffy and pretty.
Like this!

I still think it needs something.
Maybe a glittery Happy Halloween sign in the middle or something fun like that.
Ok so my last crafty project of the day was that super cute book pumpkin I showed y’all in yesterday’s Fabulous Fall Challenge!
You can find out the exact directions to this cutie patootie at Creations by Kara.
Sorry I’m lazy and don’t want to write out all the directions.
Fail.
But I will give you very brief ones.
All you need is an old book, some scissors, some hot glue, spray paint, and ribbon.
I had the book, the scissors and the hot glue.
The spray paint was 25% off at Hobby Lobby and the ribbon was 50% off.
You first need to make a pattern of a pumpkin.
It’s easiest to fold a sheet in half and cut it so that the pumpkin is symmetrical.
Then you take the cover off your book and then place the pattern so that the bottom is on the spin.
Then you trace.

And at this point I was so ready to be done cutting that I forgot to take pictures in between.
Fail.
So if you decide you want to make it please click here.
Because that tutorial is WAY better than mine!
This is what your pumpkin will look like when your completely done cutting the pages out.

Again I apologize for the lack of photos on how you get from the above photo to the one below.
Basically you put hot glue on the very edge (the spin) of the cut out and take the back page and press it into the glue.
Then you’ll spend about 20 minutes trying to fluff the pumpkin and get it so that it doesn’t look totally fugly.

Eventually though it will look like this!
🙂

Then you lightly spray paint the edges.
(However I don’t know how to spray paint so most of it ended up on my hand and not the pumpkin.)

And surprise!
I didn’t take a picture of me putting on the stick that I went out in the rain to get so I could make it my stem.
Or me struggling to get the stick to stay straight up and make the pumpkin fluff enough.
Man I am epically failing at showing you guys how to make this thing!
Well this is what the finished product looks like!
It came out a tad bigger than I was expecting but it look super cute sitting on our bar.
And I am very pleased with it!
I guess I’m not so bad at the whole crafting business after all!
🙂
I thought I would share this too.
That’s me basically acting like a two year old because my roommate wanted to take my picture when I have no makeup on.
Well it was on, but I rubbed it all off cuz that’s what I do when I get tired.
Ok, now I’m rambling.
Till next time! 🙂
PS. I’m saving the amazing dinner I made for another post because this one is already obnoxiously long.

Fabulous Fall Day 4: Fall Decor

One of my all time favorite things about Fall is all the amazing decorations you get to put up.
Today for:

Fabulous Fall Blog Challenge
we get to talk about that very thing.
DECORATIONS!
At home my mom has the best decorations for any season. And luckily for me every roommate I’ve had since then has loved putting up decorations for each of the seasons/holidays.
This year is no different and here are some of my fall/halloween decoration inspirations that I’ve found.
First we will definitly be making a Fall wreath for the front door

And some type of Halloween wreath.  I found this one on Pinterest. It’s made of tulle!

Pumpkins are great to decorate with as well because they can be used straight through Thanksgiving!
I plan on making several of these cute little book pumpkins!

And of course well be carving pumpkins!
Signage is also super fun to use as decorations.
A trip to Hobby Lobby is in order because all of their Fall signs and stuff are 40% off right now!
(I’m headin there tomorrow!)

Source: etsy.com via Heather on Pinterest

Seriously though, Pinterest has some great ideas!
I’ve spent hours on there browsing through all their Fall and Halloween decorations.
Now I just need to get out an buy some stuff and get this apartment in the holiday spirit!

I’m going to try my hardest to record any and all DIY attempts.
I use the word attempt because I usually fail epically at anything that involves DIYing.

Click here, here, and here to see what I’m talking about.
Yikes.
Hopefully these attempts will be 100% more successful!
