Today is probably one the most significant days of my life.
Why?
Well, 28 years ago today, two of the most important people in my life got married.
They took that giant step in life and promised to
love and cherish each other:
for better or for worse,
in sickness and in health,
for as long as they both shall live.
That’s right, my PARENTS got married on this day in 1983.
They have set the most amazing example for me on what a marriage should be like.
Sure, in the last 28 years they’ve had their fair share of disagreements, hard times and frustrations.
But through it all, they have loved each other, they have been there for each and they have been each others best friend.
When I tell people that my parents have been married for almost 30 years, they get this look of surprise on their face and say, “Wow, that’s something you don’t hear anymore.”
To me, that is just heartbreaking.
It’s one of the reasons I am willing to wait to find that person whom with one day I can say:
“We’ve been married 28 years and couldn’t be happier.”
Just like my parents can.
